Best of 2019 Part V: Albums I Missed

It is one of life's great pleasures to discover a new artist or new album that somehow you missed when it was originally released. This was already a year in which I finally discovered two of the most influential albums of all time, both of which blew my mind to millions of tiny pieces, 'Pet Sounds' by the Beach Boys and 'Songs in the Key of Life' by Stevie Wonder.

For this list, I am just looking at albums released in 2019 that somehow I missed; the greatest thing about end-of-year lists is not seeing where the albums you like finished but seeing which other albums you've never heard of or somehow overlooked were appreciated by other listeners or publications. And so, without any further ado...

Curt's Countdown #8

Tis the season for wishing. This Christmas, I’m wishing for concerts. If I could see ANY band or artist, EVER then this is it. Nothing left on the table. All past and present acts are available on my concert Christmas wish list for 2019. Curt's Countdown #7

I can’t actually play the guitar, but I’ve been told I’m pretty convincing with the air guitar. I even had an old girlfriend on mine truly believing I could play the guitar, based solely on her own observation of my wicked air guitaring awesomeness. Of course when I came clean, she ended the relationship. I know, shallow right?

Anyway, the point is I really enjoy playing the air guitar. Some tunes make it dang near irresistible to not whip out the invisible axe and give ‘er! As per usual, I’ll be limiting my selections to just one per band...

Best of 2019: Part I

2019 was a sneakily impressive one in that the year seems very long on talent that was well-distributed across the 12-month span. In my top five list are albums released in each of the four seasons and if I am honest, there were even some that I re-discovered upon compiling my list, sometimes surprised at what I had forgotten was actually from 2019 and not a previous year.

Before starting with the best albums list though, here is my playlist of my favourite songs of 2019; these are in no particular order, but come with annotations...
